UPDATE, 3:24 p.m.: The road was reopened by 12:13 p.m., when Darien police announced the reopening on Twitter.

Original article, 9:25 a.m.: A traffic accident Thursday on Noroton Avenue resulted in a utility pole getting severed, and the street remains closed to traffic until maybe 5 p.m., in an area between its intersection with Hecker Avenue and Baker Park, police said.

Only minor injuries were involved in the motor vehicle accident early Thursday evening, police said.

At 8:47 p.m., Thursday, police posted this announcement on Facebook:

  • Darien Police, Fire, and EMS are on scene of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle striking and severing a utility pole on Noroton Ave. near Hecker Ave. Minor injuries have been reported but Noroton Ave between Hecker Ave and Baker Park is closed. Seek alternate routes.

At 6:27 a.m., Friday, police posted this announcement on Facebook:

  • Noroton Ave in the area of Baker Park/Hecker Ave continues to be closed due to an earlier accident. Estimated time of opening is 5pm. Please seek alternate routes.
