Zay (Mary Elizabeth) Dunphy Hyde, 88, died Oct. 6, 2019 at Brandall Estates in Linwood, New Jersey.

Zay Hyde, 88, died on Oct. 6. Her funeral will take place on Oct. 12.

Zay was a 1948 graduate of Mount St. Joseph’s in Brighton, Massachusetts and, in 1952, of Regis College in Weston, Massachusets, where she studied library sciences. She worked and volunteered as a librarian. Zay had a loving marriage with her husband, Bob Hyde, who died in 1988.

Although born in Boston, Zay’s adventurous spirit led her to live many places, including Duxbury Massachusetts, Cleveland, Acton, Massachusetts; Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan; Darien; Cazenovia, New York; Longs, South Carolina; Yarmouthport, Massachusetts; and Easton, Pennsylvania; before moving to Linwood in 2013.

Zay’s many interests included golf, reading, equestrian sports, Jack Russell Terriers, travel, her children and grandchildren and her Catholic faith.

Zay is survived by her five children: Ellen (Tony) Pace, Fr. Robert Hyde, Alison Purvis Hill (Ian), Anne (Jack) Carson, Bill (Sue MacDonald); her sister, Anne O’Reilly; and seven grandchildren.

Her funeral Mass will be held at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019 at St. Nicholas Church, Egg Harbor City,  New Jersey, with internment at a later date at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Margaret’s Church Capital Improvement Fund, 203 Roxboro Rd, Mattydale, NY 13211.
