Welcome to the traditional end of the summer (which actually ends later in the month). Here’s what’s staying open, what’s closing and where hours of operation are changing in Darien and beyond:
Transportation

The New Haven Line will have schedule changes on Friday, and Monday’s trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. CTtransit bus services in Stamford and Darien will operate on a Sunday schedule for Monday, Labor Day. “The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that there will be no Maintenance, Inspection or Construction activities on major expressways this Labor Day weekend from 6 AM Friday, September 2, 2016 to 8 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2016.  Only work of an emergency nature will be considered.” Weekend Schedule Changes

Government offices are closed Monday for the federal government, state government and Darien town government.

The Darien Y will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 noon. “Group fitness classes will still be held, please see the schedule in Y News” on the website. “There will be no other lessons or programs held, with the exception of Holly Pond Enrichment.”

Metro-North: “On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Monday, January 18) Metro-North will operate a Saturday Schedule with additional AM & PM trains. Grand Central North will be closed. See Train Times/Schedules. Extra trains are also included in the current printed timetable.”
