EDITOR’S NOTE: Metro-North announced Thursday that they have CANCELLED the plan to  replace train cars with buses this weekend.

Starting late Friday night and through Sunday, Dec. 16 to 18, riders on the New Canaan Branch will be taking buses rather than trains, and the buses will be 15 minutes earlier (see the attached schedule). The reason: track work. All four stations on the branch will be affected — Talmadge Hill, New Canaan, Glenbrook and Springdale. Here’s an announcement from Metro-North and bus timetables for the duration:

Substitute bus service will be provided between New Canaan and Stamford stations for select trains on Friday, Dec.

An Ansonia man pushed a victim out of a train car at the Talmadge Hill Railroad Station on Saturday, according to New Canaan police, who arrested him by warrant on Sunday. Police described the incident and investigation with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

At about 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, officers were dispatched to Talmadge Hill Train Station on a report that a person there was walking on the train tracks crying. Police found no one there, but later found the victim at Radio Shack on Park Street in downtown New Canaan. Following an investigation, police learned that the victim had been assaulted by the Ansonia man and then pushed out of a car near the Talmadge Hill Railroad Station. Local authorities obtained an arrest warrant and police in Ansonia took him into custody.
