UPDATE: Post Road Paving to Resume THURSDAY Night, Expect 6 to 7 Nights Before It’s Done

Darien police have announced that paving on the Post Road will resume at 7 p.m. on Thursday night, not the following Sunday night, as state officials had originally stated. “According to the DOT, the contractor anticipates that it will take approximately six to seven nights of work to complete,” police said in the Wednesday morning announcement. “Motorists are advised to expect delays during this time period.” Original story, Tuesday, Oct. 16:

Unpaved parts of the Post Road in Darien are expected to remain unpaved until this Sunday night, with six nights of paving expected until construction crews reach the Stamford boundary line, according to a police official.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime milling and resurfacing project will be performed on a 3.81-mile section of Route 1 in Darien, Tuesday, Sept. 14, through Friday, Oct. 13, 2017. Work hours will be 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Aquarion Water Company is starting to replace a water main under the Post Road in a project expected to take six weeks, with work overnight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights. And after that, the state Department of Transportation will be repaving the Post Road through town. Strap on your seat belts: It’s going to be a bumpy summer. Here’s an announcement issued Monday about the Aquarion project from Darien police:

Please be advised that the Aquarion Water Company has now commenced a substantial water main replacement project on U.S. 1 [the Post Road] between the Metro North Railroad Bridge and Brookside Road in advance of the state DOT [Department of Transportation] roadway resurfacing that is scheduled to occur later this summer. Because of the scope and in road location of the work involved, this work must occur at night.
