Police: Drive Carefully Near Tokeneke School on Saturday During Pumpkin Carnival, and Here’s Where to Park

Because of the expected crowds and traffic surrounding Tokeneke School during the annual Tokeneke Pumpkin Carnival this Saturday, Darien police have issued a traffic advisory and pointed out where extra parking is available. Police said you can’t park on Old Farm Road, where the entrances to the school are located, nor on private streets in the Tokeneke Association. The police announcement also said: “If traveling in the area, please expect minor delays and watch for pedestrians of all ages. Motorists not attending the event should consider alternate routes to their destination.” Here’s an online map (not including route suggestions).

The Darien Police Department will enforce traffic regulations and monitor security for Darien High School’s night football game on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. — an announcement from Darien police

All traffic will enter the DHS campus from Noroton Avenue. High School Lane and Nutmeg Lane will be closed to incoming traffic. Spectators are strongly urged to carpool.

Drivers can expect some short-term delays and detours from Pear Tree Point Beach north to Old Kings Highway South and points in between along the route of the 40th annual Darien Road Race, Sunday, Sept. 15. It starts at 9 a.m.

The road race, with about 500 racers, will start at Pear Tree Point Beach. Impacted roads will be Pear Tree Point Road, Long Neck Point Road, Goodwives River Road, Sunswyck Road, Tory Hole Road, Delafield Island Road, Red Coat Pass, Old Kings Highway South, Locust Hill Road and Andrews Drive. Drivers and residents of the area are advised to expect short-term delays and detours along the race route.

Due to the traditionally large turnout for the Middlesex Middle School [Monday, June 17] and Darien High School [Tuesday, June 18] graduations, both of which are held at DHS, the Darien Police Department advises that the following traffic regulations are being put into effect. — an announcement from Darien Police Department. The regulations are for the area surrounding Darien High School on June 17 and 18, 2019 starting at 3:30 pm:

—All traffic will enter the High School grounds via Noroton Avenue. Vehicular traffic will not be permitted to enter the area via High School Lane, Nutmeg Lane, Holly Lane, or Libby Lane.
