State Police Have Extra Patrols Out for New Year’s Eve Drunk Driving

An announcement released Tuesday by Connecticut State Police:

The Connecticut State Police will remain very active to enhance public safety on all highways and roads in Connecticut this New Year’s Holiday. 

Troopers will utilize various enforcement methods to locate and arrest dangerous and intoxicated drivers this New Year’s Holiday weekend. To accomplish this task State Troopers will utilize both marked and unmarked State Police Patrol Cars as Troopers are attempting to remove all unsafe and intoxicated drivers from Connecticut’s roads and highways. _________

Train Schedule Changes Starting Christmas Eve, Through New Year’s Day

Darien commuters and others taking the train will find schedule changes around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, Metro-North says. Here’s the announcement, (with links to online schedules at the bottom):

Who needs flying reindeer? Our special Christmas/New Year’s Holiday timetable has all the service you’ll need for getting around Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day. Here’s what we have “under the tree” for you:

Early Getaway Service on Christmas Eve (Thursday, Dec. 24) Our regular weekday schedule will feature more cars on trains at key travel times and 18 additional early getaway trains (5 on the Hudson Line, 3 on the Harlem Line, and 10 the New Haven Line) departing Grand Central between 12 noon and 4:10 PM.
