New Canaan Police at 11 p.m. Saturday charged Fotis Dulos, 51, and Michelle C. Troconis, both of Farmington, with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, and first-degree hindering prosecution—eight days after his ex-wife, Jennifeer Dulos, went missing. Jennifer Dulos, 50, has been missing since May 24. New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said in a press release issued Sunday morning that missing person and criminal investigations in the case both are “active and dynamic.”

“As the criminal investigation progresses, additional criminal charges are expected,” he said. “At the time of this release, Jennifer has not been located, and the search is ongoing. If Jennifer is located, we will provide additional information.”

Fotis Dulos and Troconis were taken into custody in Avon and transported to New Canaan Police headquarters for processing on the felony-level charges, on warrants reviewed by the state’s attorney and signed by a Superior Court judge.

She first was reported missing by friends who “indicated that they had not heard from her for approximately ten hours, and she had missed several appointments during the day,” Ferraro said in a press release. “The last time one of the friends had contact with Jennifer was earlier in the day after Jennifer had dropped her children off at school,” Ferraro said. “Jennifer was believed to be driving her 2017 black Chevy Suburban at the time she dropped off the children at school. At no time were the five Dulos children missing.  Additionally, the children are safe and with family.”

The new details come as the police case, which is now both a missing person as well as a criminal investigation, dominates local and regional news headlines and tugs at the hearts of many in New Canaan.

He has been missing since March 7, 2019 when he failed to return home from school. The missing juvenile suffers from a medical condition that may require immediate attention.
