Home-grown talent Doug Allen will perform his toe-tapping country music at the First Congregational Church of Darien on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Doug has four CDs released and two of his songs are featured in major motion pictures. Bring your family and friends for a fun evening. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, and dessert will be served. A charge of $10 per adult (children free) will help us cover our costs.
The First Congregational Church of Darien and Silver Hill Hospital are hosting a panel discussion to address the problem of drugs that plague our community. It will be held at the church at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, at 11:30am. On behalf of the Music Committee at the First Congregational Church of Darien, our Senior Minister, Reverend Dale Rosenberger and our Music Director, Dan Hague we invite you to join us this Sunday, Jan. 29, for Hymnfest. Members of the Congregation will speak about Hymns in which they will share personal associations, emotional ties, or just plain favorites among the selections. Also, Dan Hague, will give a meditation on the history of hymns, why we sing them in church, and where this music comes from. __________

My Baptist grandmother use to say to me: “Singing a song is equivalent to praying twice!” I believe grandma absolutely knew what she was talking about. Music is the heartbeat of the church. The First Congregational Church of Darien has been blessed with many talented singers and musicians – we must rejoice over this! In the letter to the Ephesians 5:19-20 its states: “as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
