Dog Licenses are available beginning June 1, and it will cost dog owners more if they don’t get a new license by June 30, the end of the month, according to an announcement on the Darien government website. If new license isn’t procured on or before June 30, “a penalty will be collected in addition to license fee, in accordance with section 22-338, of the General Statutes,” the announcement said. (There was no mention of how expensive the penalty is.)

These are the regular fees charged for a license:

Neutered Male or Spayed Female                     $8.00

Male or Female                                                   $19.00

All dogs six months or older must be licensed. Vet’s Certificate Needed for a License
Owners of spayed females or neutered males must present a veterinarian’s certificate of neutering or spaying to the Town Clerk’s Office when applying for a license. Dog owners must submit a certificate, signed by a veterinarian, or copy thereof, stating that such dog has been vaccinated against rabies, the date of the vaccination and the duration of the immunity provided by the vaccine.
