A 55-year-old man, unsteady on his feet, acted belligerent and yelled profanities in the south parking lot at Darien Railroad Station, according to police who came to the scene when a taxi driver reported that the man had broken the taxi’s window. Darien police described what happened with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The taxi driver, backed up by another witness at the scene, told police at 5:27 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 that the man walked up to the driver to ask if he was working. Thedriver said the man could get in the back seat of the cab, but the man — later identified by police as Donald Cavett Jr. of Richardson, Texas — instead yelled an expletive and walked away. Cavett walked back to the taxi in a way that seemed aggressive to the taxi driver, who then rolled up the windows to avoid a confrontation. Cavett then pulled on the rear passenger window, breaking it.

You don’t see this every day (and be thankful for it): Two people at Darien Railroad Station told police they’d been shot at with a paintball gun by someone in a black four-door sedan who was being driven through the parking lot. The incident occurred at 9:10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5 on the eastbound side of the train station (the side nearest Dunkin Donuts) as the victims, who had just gotten off the train, were walking through the parking lot, headed toward work. The victims, a 32-year-old Brooklyn man and a 52-year-old man, also from New York City, told police there were at least two people in the car, but they couldn’t give any description of them. When the two pedestrians last saw the car, it was headed down Squab Lane toward Leroy Avenue. The people were lucky, but the owners of two SUVs parked in the lot were not: Orange paint from the paint balls was found on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Volvo XC90.
