Annual Darien Chamber of Commerce Awards Given Out

The Darien Chamber of Commerce recently gave out the Annual DCC Awards at the Annual Meeting, Awards and Holiday Cheer event. This annual event is a special night where the Chamber celebrates not only its volunteers of the year, but also, employees of local businesses who are recognized by their employers. This year the DCC Awards Committee selected:

Mark Rosenbloom, DCC Chairman of the Board of Directors (assistant vice president, First County Bank) as Volunteer of the Year;

WinePort of Darien (accepted by Tim Smith, Manager) as Business of the Year for the annual Wine Tasting and Auction Benefit involvement. Erica Jensen and Corrie Belardinelli, both of Helen Ainson Boutique, received an Award of Appreciation for their years of volunteering on the SideWalk Sales Committee. Sylvan Learning Center and Gwynne Campbell received an Award of Appreciation for the 30 years of commitment Sylvan and Gwynne Campbell have given to the education of Darien’s youth.

Once again Santa will arrive at Grove Street Plaza and come down the Chimney to visit with children. The fun starts at about 4:30 p.m.

Families can be entertained while waiting for his arrival with Rides on the Giant Animals—Lucy the Polar Bear, Moose and “Snow” Leopard. Carolers from Hindley and Darien’s ‘AcaBELLA” group will entertain all while we wait for Santa to arrive. Stay warm with free Hot Cocoa complements of The Melting Pot. This is one local event you won’t want to miss and is great way to capture the holiday spirit and spread good cheer!

Creative Digital Marketing: Business Forum/Panel Discussion

At this Business Forum/Panel Discussion with a moderator, hear tips and ideas on marketing strategy to help build brand name awareness and increase sales. The event, free and open to the public, is meant to help business owners learn from others what strategies are the most successful to help win customers and build sales. Submit your questions in advance for the moderator to ask members of the panel to comment on and share their experiences. Come at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday to network and submit your questions. The panel discussion will begin at 5:45 and continue until 6:30.

Honorees Accept Going For Green Awards from Darien Chamber

On Thursday, April 21st , in preparation for Earth Day, The Darien Chamber of Commerce awarded the winners of the 9th Annual “Going for Green”awards. The event promotes environmental awareness and this pledge:
“I pledge to the community to make “Going for Green” part of my way of doing business and making lifestyle choices in Darien. As I make decisions for my business, or my life, I will consider green options to help make Darien and the Earth, a safe and hospitable home for present and future generations.”
This year “Going For Green” was sponsored by First County Bank, and the awards reception was held at the Darien branch on the Post Road. _________

This “New Year-New Look-New You for LinkedIn!” event on March 22, sponsored by the Darien Chamber of Commerce gives you an all-in-one package to spruce you up, get your picture taken for LinkedIn and get some professional advice about your profile there. It all takes place from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on March 22 at Darien Sport Shop — but register in advance to have your picture taken by a professional photographer. Talk on New ‘Chip’ Credit Cards at Darien Chamber of Commerce Networking Event

Mark Rosenbloom of First County Bank will give a short presentation on “chip” credit cards as part of a Darien Chamber of Commerce “After Hours” networking event Thursday at Jimmy’s Southside Tavern. Chip credit cards are common in Europe but relatively new to the United States. They’re designed to be more difficult for thieves to use. Rosenbloom, an assistant vice president and cash management services manager at First County Bank, is also a board member at the Darien Chamber of Commerce.
