Aquarion Water Company today announced a water main cleaning project along certain streets in the company’s Darien system.
The project is scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night from Sunday, April 28, through Friday, May 3, the utility announced on Wednesday.

The six-day project will “ensure customers in the Darien area continue to receive the highest quality water,” the utility said.
Store Drinking, Cooking Water Beforehand, Don’t Wash Clothes if Water is Discolored
During the flushing of the system, customers may notice temporary low pressure or discoloration in their water.
This discoloration results from the temporary disturbance of the water flow, which stirs up naturally occurring minerals that settle in water mains.
Aquarion recommends that you:
• Store water in your refrigerators for drinking and cooking.
• Refrain from washing laundry — if your water is discolored.
• Before resuming use, you should run your cold-water faucets until the water appears clear.
