U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy has walked a long way from eastern Connecticut to hold one of his Town Hall meetings Friday night in Darien with a fellow Democrat, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes at Tilley Pond Park.

You’re invited to meet them both at 7 p.m. Friday night at the stone pavilion in the park. “All members of the public are encouraged to attend,” according to an announcement from his office.

Murphy may have sore feet, having walked through Bridgeport, Fairfield, Westport, Norwalk and into Darien in his trek across the state. His publicists say he’s “taking to the streets and dirt roads to listen to and get feedback from Connecticut residents.”

Talk about street cred.

Friday night’s town hall meeting will be Murphy’s fifth and final one during the walking tour. Expect him to be exhausted, perhaps with blistered feet. His journey began Monday in Voluntown on the Rhode Island border, and he hopes to end up in Greenwich.

Murphy blogged about the experience and posted pictures and tweets on Twitter as he travelled across the state.

“I’m excited to hear from people across Connecticut, to stop into local businesses and get some great ideas to bring back to Washington. I’m a little unsure how far I’ll make it but we will see how this goes. Here’s a recap of my first day out on the road,” he blogged on his first day.

Here’s how far he walked each day:

  • Day 1: Monday — 11.82 miles (Voluntown to Norwich)
  • Day 2: Tuesday — 29.18 miles (Norwich to Chester)
  • Day 3: Wednesday — 30.4 miles (Chester to East Haven)
  • Day 4: Thursday — 22.93 miles (East Haven to Bridgeport)
  • Day 5: Friday — the plan is to walk from Bridgeport

Correction: U.S. Rep. Jim Himes actually walked some distance in Darien with U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy. He did not, as predicted by Darienite.com, just walk from his car to the pavilion and Darienite.com was naughty, naughty, naughty for predicting that he would.
