Rosemary Quill (née Tallis) of Highland, Maryland, passed away on March 18, 2025, at home in Darien, with family after an extended battle with cancer. She was 90.

Rosemary Quill, 90, passed away on March 18. Her funeral will be held on July 12 in Maryland.
Born in Frolesworth, England, on Aug. 24, 1934, Rosemary was the eldest of five children of Joseph (Sr.) and Dorothy (Rose) Tallis.
She met her husband of 65 years, David Quill, while he was stationed at RAF Mildenhall. They married in 1953 and moved to Fargo, North Dakota. Throughout her life, Rosemary held leadership positions in Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, school PTAs, 4-H, Pony Club, garden clubs, art councils, and Questers Club in Chicago; Fayetteville, Pennsylvania; and Rockville, Highland, and Silver Spring, Maryland.
She was an avid gardener, painter, knitter and reader. She loved to travel the world with her husband and siblings and their spouses, Margaret and Peter Garland, William and Stella Tallis, Doreen and David Haynes, and Joseph and Jeanette Tallis.
She was also a devoted mother to her four children and their spouses: Martin and Karen Quill, Diana and Thomas Maguire, Margaret and Ted Cowan, and Joseph and Marcy Quill; and adored her 13 grandchildren and their spouses: Sarah Quill; Lauren and Scott Armstrong; Graham and Carly Quill; Caitlin and Kesal Patel; Julia and Luke Henderson; David Maguire and Jacinda King; Charlotte and Andrew Nelms; James Maguire; Silver Cowan; Sammi Cowan; and Max, Ian and Helen Quill. And her seven great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Livia, Andrew, Violet, Rhodes, Kiri, and Sylvie.
Rosemary brought vitality and passion to every room. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A funeral service for Rosemary will be held at 11 a.m., July 12, 2025, at Saint Marks Church in Highland, Maryland.
