Roger L. Clare, 64, of Orange, beloved husband of Marion Clare, passed away on June 10 after a courageous battle with cancer. He departed this world surrounded by family.

Born on March 17, 1953, in Norwalk, Roger was the son of the late Edward and Marie Weed Clare.
Roger was a proud member of the Darien Volunteer Fire Department since his high school years. He loved machinery and electronics and could often be found working on household projects.
He was employed by the Darien Public Schools for over 38 years. He was the head custodian of an elementary school and he truly cared about his building, the teachers and the students. Whether at home or at school, Roger was never without a song. He will be greatly missed by many.

Roger was a history buff who enjoyed old war movies, westerns and documentaries. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and he spent many a weekend supporting his children’s sporting and dance activities. He was so proud of their accomplishments. His patience, kindness and tolerance were the cornerstones of his personality.
In addition to his beloved wife, Marion, Roger is survived by his children, Jeffrey and Alison Clare; brother, Gary (Terry) Clare of California; sister-in-law, Sharon (Joseph) Rackiewicz; and several nieces and nephews. Roger will be sorely missed by his loving Labrador Retriever, Jackie.
Friends and family are invited to call from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford. A Memorial Service will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orange Volunteer Fire Department which he had hoped to join in his retirement.
