The Darien Parks and Recreation Commission is postponing decisions related to the parks master plan, originally scheduled for its meeting Wednesday night, and instead will just hold another public hearing at Town Hall.
Also being postponed is the opening celebration for the Ox Ridge fields. Instead, the celebration will be held next spring, Parks and Recreation Director Pamela Gery announced.
Here’s the entire announcement:
The Parks & Recreation Commission and Department have received a groundswell of response to the concepts being considered as part of our Master Park Plan.
This groundswell has resulted in considerable emotion and misinformation related to a number of the amenities being proposed. In order to focus our intentions on the Master Park Plan, the following changes have been made:
1. The Parks & Recreation Commission meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 18 will be an additional Public Hearing on the master park plan concepts and no voting will take place that night. The Parks & Recreation Commission plans to vote on the concepts at the P&R Commission meeting on Nov. 15, 2017.
2. The Ox Ridge Opening Celebration scheduled for Oct. 29 will be postponed until the spring of 2018.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall Auditorium at our Public Hearing.
