Linda “Bunny” Reiner of Darien passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, on Oct. 15. She was 76.
The beloved daughter of Ores and Linda Mesedahl, Bunny was born on Jan. 19, 1948, and raised in Stamford, where she attended Rippowam High School.
After completing secretarial training — honing her lightning-fast typing skills and her remarkable intuition for anticipating the needs of those around her, she found her professional “home” at DAL Associates, an executive search firm in Stamford where she worked for almost two decades.
On July 11, 1970 — a truly lucky number-Bunny married Harold Reiner. They were happily married for 36 years, until Harold’s passing in 2006. They made their home in Darien for 20 years, where they raised their two children, Krista and Keith.
In 2003, Bunny and Harold retired to Hernando, Florida, and became active members of a loving community of fellow card players, bowlers, litter eradicators, book clubbers, travel enthusiasts and “lupper” companions.
In 2021, Bunny returned to Darien, thrilled as punch to live with her daughter and grandchildren, and so close to her son and daughter-in-law. The last three years were filled with joy and found Bunny traveling, meeting up with the girls for live music and karaoke nights, beating most people at Words with Friends, and spending time with friends and family.
Known for her generosity and thoughtfulness, Bunny had a passion for bringing people together. She was always on the lookout for “treasures” while exploring her favorite thrift shops and tag sales, and many of her friends were lucky to benefit from her discoveries. Her sense of style brought as much joy and sparkle to others as it did to her.
Bunny is survived by her children, Krista Carnes (Carly) and Keith Reiner (Skye); her sister, Nancy Reagan (Paul), her beloved grandchildren, Preston and Cameron Carnes; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
In addition to her husband, Harold Reiner, she was predeceased by her parents, Ores and Linda Mesedahl; and her brother, Kurt Mesedahl.
The family would like to thank the caring hospice professionals at Waveny LifeCare Network for enabling Bunny to remain comfortable at home during her final days.
A Celebration of Bunny’s Life will be held at The Darien Community Association at 274 Middlesex Road at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov, 23, 2024. Coffee and pastries will be served by candlelight, just as Bunny would have insisted.
In place of flowers, donations to the Darien Community Association Thrift Shop in Bunny’s name would be a fitting tribute.
