WCSU waives application fees through Nov. 30 for first-year, transfer and graduate students
Western Connecticut State University will waive the application fee for first-year, transfer, and graduate students who apply to the university from now to Nov. 30, 2025. Admissions decisions for Fall 2026 will begin going out in early December. To apply or for more information, go to wcsu.edu/admissions/apply/ or call the Admissions Office at (203) 837-9000.

Food Expert Padma Lakshmi Visits Fairfield University
Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts will host Padma Lakshmi — producer, TV host, and New York Times best-selling author — for a discussion on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

WCSU Honoring the late Jane Goodall on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 5:30 to 7:30
Western Connecticut State University will honor the legacy of Dr. Jane Goodall this month at an event entitled “Honoring Dr. Jane Goodall: Her Vision, Her Voice, Our Future.” It will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Room 125 and in the Atrium of the Science Building on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.

Goodall has been a frequent visitor to the university since the April 1995 establishment of The Jane Goodall Center for Excellence in Environmental Education at WCSU, which brings together Western Connecticut State University and the Jane Goodall Institute — a global nonprofit devoted to wildlife research, education, and conservation. Virtual gallery talk about incarcerated quilt-makers Nov. 12, and exhibit at Fairfield University Art Museum
The Fairfield University Art Museum invites you to join an inspiring Virtual Gallery Talk with Maureen Kelleher, co-founder of The Social Justice Collaboration Quilts Project, on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m.
Kelleher will share stories from her collaborative work with incarcerated quilt artists at the Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola Prison, and discuss the creative process behind the quilts featured in the museum’s current exhibition, Stitching Time:The Social Justice Collaboration Quilts Project.
Paired with Give Me Life: CPA Prison Arts Program, the exhibition uplifts the voices of artists who have experienced incarceration and whose work embodies resilience, creativity, and hope.
WCSU Prof launches a true crime podcast
Western Connecticut State University Professor of Justice and Law Administration Dr. Casey Jordan has launched a new true crime podcast, “Criminal Appeal with Dr. Casey Jordan.”
The podcast, which premiered on Tuesday, Nov. 4, features Jordan, a well-known criminologist, profiler and attorney with more than three decades of on-air experience, and co-host Dr. Colleen Butler-Sweet, a sociology professor at Sacred Heart University.
Together, they discuss real cases through the lens of Jordan’s actual analysis as the case unfolded, and Butler-Sweet’s exploration of how society, identity, and inequality shape our understanding of crime and justice.
The podcast can be found on YouTube, Spotify and Apple, as of November 4.
