Darien police say they’ve received two more reports of vehicles that may have been burglarized on the same night that police arrested five boys for entering about a dozen others in the southwest corner of town.
A resident of Concord Lane and a resident of Glenwood Road each reported that vehicles were entered. Their reports join others on Glenwood Road, Anthony Lane and Hollow Tree Ridge Road from the incident overnight from Friday to Saturday, June 18 to 19.
In every single case, the cars entered were unlocked.
In one of the two latest reports, a Glenwood Drive resident said three vehicles parked outside the house were entered. In a Chevrolet Silverado, the resident found a black cell phone case with a logo for St. Joseph Hawks that didn’t belong to him. Someone had gone through the center console.
Nothing was taken from that car or two other vehicles unlocked and parked outside the house. The resident reported the incident to police at about 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, shortly after discovering that the vehicles had been entered.
On June 23, a Concord Lane resident with two cars unlocked in his driveway said Ray Ban sunglasses and an iPhone charger were taken from a Mercedes Benz but in a Ford Edge, also entered, a different iPhone charger was left behind.
Police believe the cars were entered the same night as the others.
As Darienite.com previously reported, at 5:30 a.m. on June 19, an Anthony Lane resident was awoken by a car alarm going off. The man then saw several boys outside and called police, who confronted five teenage boys, ages 15 to 17, on Hillside Avenue.
Police took two bicycles they say were stolen from a home on Anthony Lane and charged the boys, all from Stamford, in connection with 11 thefts from unlocked cars in the neighborhood.
