Mellory “Mel” Solomon passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. She was 76.
Born on Aug. 18, 1948, in South Africa, Mel dedicated her life to caring for others. After attending teachers training college, she chose a path of compassion, selflessness, and devotion to her family and community.
Mel will be remembered for her kind smile, her love of cooking and gardening, her fondness for animals, and her enjoyment of watching tennis.
She was a quiet but steady presence in the lives of many, volunteering with her local religious and community organizations. Her greatest joy and life’s focus was her family. She gave everything to raising her children — especially her sweet daughter Kerry, with special needs.
Mel is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ian Solomon; her son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Georgia; and cherished grandchildren, Sam and Wes.
A small private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, they kindly ask that friends and family consider learning more about Camphill Village, a community where Mel’s daughter Kerry lived and thrived and an organization close to Mel and Ian’s heart.
