Mary Lopiano obit obituary

Mary Lopiano, 79, passed away on July 28.

Mary was born on Dec. 27, 1945 in Eastford. She met her beloved husband, Joe, at college, and the two were married in 1968.

Mary was very active in the real estate community for over 50 years, known for her strong work ethic and always adhering to her principles. She made many friends through real estate over the years and thrived on the constant bustle of this industry.

She delighted in the beaches and cobblestone lanes of Nantucket, spent many hours on Long Island Sound with Joe, and found solace in tending to her perennial garden. She was a lover of all animals, especially her dachshunds.

Most of all, she loved her grandchildren with all her heart, always an enthusiastic spectator at their games and challenging them to many rounds of ping pong. They will remember “Mimzy” with endless love, laughter and treasured memories.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; her sister, Louise King; her son, Steve (Carrie); her daughter, Amy Kennedy (Tim); and her grandchildren, Quinn and Bo Kennedy and Fred Lopiano.

She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Katherine King and sister Katherine Ives.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pet Animal Welfare Society of Norwalk.
