Marjorie Lawlor Cassidy, a longtime resident of New Canaan, Block Island, and Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 12 in Darien at the age of 96.

Marjorie Cassidy, 96, passed away on July 12.
Born in Waterbury to Mary (Hodson) and William K Lawlor in 1929, she was a graduate of Saint Margaret’s school in Middlebury and Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York.
Marjorie was married to Thomas Cassidy in 1954. They moved to New Canaan in 1960 where they raised their five children and were active members of the community and St. Aloysius Church.
Over the years Marjorie volunteered at the Nature Center, Americares, ABC House, Waveny Care Center, St Aloysius CCD, and was a member of the New Canaan Sewing Group.
She enjoyed sharing her lifelong passions for gardening, tennis, golf and skiing with her family and friends. We will forever cherish our memories of following her graceful and sweeping turns from the Lord’s Prayer on Bromley to Seattle Ridge in Sun Valley.
She will be remembered most as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a kind and generous friend to all who met her, creatures great and small.
Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Thomas and survived by her children: Tom (Moira) Cassidy, Mary (John) Finnegan, Anne (Chris) Callahan, Bill (Lisa) Cassidy and Peter (Lisa) Cassidy; along with 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her posse of grand dogs.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, July 18, at St. Aloysius Church. Donations in her memory may be made to the Bennet Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital.
