Geraldine Krawiec passed away on Aug. 7. Her wake will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Aug. 12, and her funeral at 10 a.m., Tuesday.
Geri was the daughter of the late Mary (McGovern) and Jeremiah O’Brien. She was a 1952 graduate of Darien High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Connecticut Teacher’s College and her master’s degree from Fairfield University.
Geri taught first and second grade at Tokeneke School. She loved children and teaching and was always able to find the magic in each and every child.
Geri married the love of her life, Edward Krawiec, in 1956. After retirement, Geri and Ed traveled extensively both around the country and internationally visiting family and friends.
Geri treasured her friends — her long-term friends from Darien, her college friends, her fellow teachers who became special friends, her church friends and her newer friends from her book group and tai chi class. You were all so special to her.
Geri is survived by her children: Susan Delmerico of Jacksonville, Florida; Nancy Maher (Christopher) of Wilton; Dorie Krawiec (William Cusick) of Sudbury, Massachusetts and Michael Krawiec (Heidi Siebens) of Darien. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward Krawiec and her daughter, Sally Elizabeth Krawiec. Geri is also survived by nine well-loved grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Geri had a special relationship with all her grandchildren — from playing card games to reading books to religiously watching their sports outings, she was an exceptional grandmother.
