A parent/child smartphone photography workshop is being offered at the Darien Arts Center on Feb. 18; from 2 to 4 p.m. Participants will learn how to create beautiful smartphone photos that consider the basic rules of photography and composition.
Sam Morrow, professional artist and instructor, will lead the workshop that focuses on composition, color and lighting using smartphone photography. Morrow holds masters degrees in Fine Art from both Ohio State University and the Royal College of Art in London.
He currently teaches at the Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Greenwich Art Society, Rowayton Arts Center and Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan.
“Basic photography skills can easily translate into beautiful smartphone photos with a little practice and knowledge,” Morrow said. “With the advanced technology available in our smartphones, we all have the capability for taking impressive photos, novices and children included.”
New smartphone photography skills can be used to enter the DAC’s Pic Darien Smartphone Photo Contest, which is accepting entries through February 27, and features prizes for all ages.
There is no obligation to enter the photography contest. Fee for the workshop is $60 for one adult and up to 2 children. Participants must register by February 17, as the workshop cannot accept drop-ins.
