His presentation takes place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Wilton Congregational Church, Pilgrim Hall, 70 Ridgefield Road in Wilton.  The program and dinner is free, but RSVPs are required.

Dr. Ciannella is associate director of the Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at Stamford Hospital.

He is responsible for bringing physicians assistants and neonatal nurse practitioners into the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) as well as overseeing the care and development of newborns, including immediate treatment of any medical emergencies should they arise during delivery.

Carrie Cromwell-Hunt knows Dr. Ciannella and TTMF well.  As a mom of twin premature babies (the children are now 6 years of age) who received helpful services from TTMF, Cromwell-Hunt also was honored to have Dr. Ciannella as her neonatal doctor.  She says,

“I couldn’t praise Dr. Ciannella more — he saved our precious twins, Mason & Eloise,” she says.“He cared for them as if they were his own.  I encourage parents to attend this special program and to not be afraid to ask questions — Sleep Health and Transitions is vital to the health of not only the baby, but the parents as well!”

Cromwell-Hunt now pays it forward by being a mentor for parents of preemies in the NICU at Stamford Hospital.

“The Tiny Miracles Foundation is pleased to offer this program — it is a natural complement to the full continuum of services, programs, and assistance the organization provides to the most vulnerable members of the community,” said George Colabella, executive director of the foundation

TTMF provides an array of direct services to families in Connecticut’s Fairfield County and beyond.

Whether it’s bedside mentoring by trained volunteers who have travelled the same NICU journey; emotional support by TTMF’s Director of Family Services; the Tiny Treasures program (which includes bonding dolls and blankets to cover isolettes for help in the baby’s development); or the Financial Assistance Program (FAP) that provides everything from gas cards and parking passes so that parents can visit their babies in the NICU, breast pumps so moms can provide their fragile babies with “liquid gold,” baby necessities like car seats and strollers, to prominent help with utility, rent and mortgage payments; the Foundation provides for families in need with the unexpected birth of their fragile preemie.
