To the editor,
Volunteers transform a town into a community. These people understand commitment and what it means to serve. When I saw that Stacey Tie and Julie Best were running in the upcoming election for the Board of Education on Nov. 2, I knew they were the only choice to represent all of our children and support our teachers.
Students think and learn differently. Neurodiversity is a growing part of education’s landscape and an important part of our children’s education. Progress in special education provides insight into the best practices for all students.
A special education advocate with boots on the ground and depth of knowledge in the field, Stacey will keep Darien on the cusp of what is happening in special education, recognizing what is needed to keep Darien on the cutting edge of education. Stacey’s expertise will benefit all of Darien’s students.
Julie’s choice to work on the CDSP speaks to her vision and empathy; she knows we must work together to create real understanding and progress. During the worst of the pandemic, Julie got busy putting together #showingdpsstaffthelove – a movement to express gratitude to Darien Public Schools teachers and staff.
Julie Best chose to build up rather than tear down. Julie provided our teachers and school staff with much needed encouragement so they could continue to provide the highest quality education for our kids. An effective, proactive leader like Julie Best will infuse the BOE with a new energy.
Knowledge, experience, action, intelligence, and empathy. Stacey Tie and Julie Best have developed and honed these qualities in their years of service to Darien. They are the best choice for the Board of Education. Vote for Stacey and Julie on November 2.
