Edward C. Schley passed away peacefully at the age of 84 with family by his side on Dec. 3 in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Born and raised in Darien, he was the son of Edward A. Schley and Leona (Trefry) Schley. After graduating from Darien High School in 1958, Edward served as a staff sergeant in the Army National Guard in the 1960s.
Spending much of his life in the automotive field, he owned Schley Citgo in Glenbrook from the 1970s to the 1990s, later spending over a decade working at Brandman’s Equipment of Norwalk, and then retiring to Plymouth.
Ed loved music, and trips to the casino, and was a talented artist. He will be missed by all who knew him and remembered for his kindness, generous and loving spirit, sense of humor, and warm hugs.
Edward was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty (Ralston) Schley. He is survived by his two children, daughter Deborah (Schley) Wahlberg of Hingham, Massachusetts; his son, Michael Schley of Plymouth; and two grandchildren, Madison and Ethan Wahlberg. Edward is also survived by his siblings: Judy (Schley) Karl, Doug Schley, and Terry (Schley) Flower; as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was laid to rest on Dec. 8, 2023 at Spring Grove Cemetery.
