Darien Schools, Preschools, YMCA, Library, Town Hall All Closed for Thursday

Darien Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, when heavy snow and winds are forecast. Preschools in town, Darien Nature Center and Pear Tree Point School all have a policy of following the school district’s closure decisions. Darien Library will also be closed.

Darien YMCA will be closed, reversing its announcement Wednesday night that it expected to open.

The Board of Education’s Thursday night meeting is cancelled, the school district announced on Wednesday.

Here’s the school district’s announcement:

The Darien Public Schools will be closed Jan. 4, 2018. All activities scheduled are cancelled or will be rescheduled.

Additionally, the Board of Education (BOE) meeting scheduled for Jan. 4, 2018 is cancelled. The next meeting of the BOE is Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 to present the Superintendent’s 2018-19 budget. An updated BOE agenda has been posted.

Due to the inclement weather the Darien Y is closed today Thursday, January 4.

The Child Guidance Center of Southern Connecticut will be closed Thursday, as well. “If you are experiencing a crisis, please dial 2-1-1,” the organization said in its closure announcement on Facebook.

Update, 10:56 p.m.: Amtrak will operate on a modified schedule, according to this announcement. Metro-North expects to maintain a regular schedule on Thursday, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced.

Update 11:33 p.m.: Darien Town Hall will be closed on Thursday, First Selectman Jayme Stevenson and the town government website both announced.
