Photography, graphics and artistic improvisations from award-winning photographers and artists Jim Stasiak and Barbara Soares starts with an opening reception, 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, June 7.

Jim Stasiak is an award-winning photographic artist, musician and graphic arts professional. He regularly exhibits at Carriage Barn Arts Center, Sherman Arts Association, Rowayton Arts Center, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Gallery 25, Washington Art Association, White Silo Farm Gallery, and the Warner Theatre Atrium Gallery. His work is in the permanent collection of Danbury Hospital, and in private collections in Connecticut, New York, Illinois, California, New Hampshire and Maine.

Embodied in his own use of digital imaging is Stasiak’s belief that digital applications are specialized tools that can expand the creative range and perception of the artist in an intuitive, beneficial manner.

He has taught photographers and artists how computer-based tools affect the photographic process and how to work with the technical considerations inherent in producing digital art. Stasiak is experienced in professional retouching and image optimization for the advertising, fashion, music, publishing and lithographic printing industries.

His 45-plus years experience has blended photography, graphic design, typography, systems design, R&D and senior management positions.

“Our awareness of the universe changes almost daily. A simple moment in time encompasses multiple dimensions, energy waves of incredibly long and short frequencies, and undefined anomalies,” said Jim Stasiak. “My photography relies on emotion and expertise to recognize an image in that simple moment, and skill, taste and judgment to create an image of relevance and meaning for the viewer.”

Barbara Soares, MA, is an award-winning fine art photographer, Reiki master, musician and sound healing practitioner.

“My work represents a zen meditation in seeing, photographing and printing images as ‘visual haiku’ that entice the viewer to perceive the world in a different light and composition,” said Barbara Soares. “ Passion, resonance, shadow and light, form and movement, essence of the moment, essence of the heart — these are the raw materials I draw from and live for.”

Her work has been shown in galleries, schools, and alternate spaces in New York City, Connecticut and Westchester County, including the Carriage Barn Arts Center, Rowayton Art Center, Shoreline Arts Alliance, Kent Art Association, Washington Art Association, Mattatuck Museum, Gallery 25, Warner Theatre Atrium, and Five Points Gallery as well as private and corporate collections.

Her ‘Renewal’ photograph recently won first honors in the Shoreline Arts Alliance 2023 IMAGES Juried photography show.
