Charlotte A. Pacelli (Char/Gramz/Nana), passed away on March 10, following a lengthy battle with advanced dementia. She was 85.
She was born Nov. 11, 1939, in Newton, Massachusetts to the late Haven and Virginia (Hatch) Andrews, and grew up in Newton and Rochester, New Hampshire. She was married to her late husband, Gerald J. Pacelli ,for over 50 years and is also predeceased by her older sister, Patricia A. Richmond, and other relatives.
Charlotte was a Darien resident for over 50 years who volunteered for the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society and the Darien Senior Center. She and Jerry also worked the polls at Holmes School during elections.
Charlotte was a loving and devoted wife/mother/grandmother/great-grandmother, an avid gardener, baker, loyal friend and common thief of countless sweatshirts and hoodies belonging to her sons and grandsons. She attended hundreds of baseball and ice hockey games during Jay and Chris’ youth, as well as being a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Navy football fan.
She enjoyed spending summer vacations in Kennebunk, Maine at the family farm, as well as Drake’s Island. Some of her fondest memories were spent baking family Christmas cookies with her grandsons during their youth.
She is survived by her sons Gerald (Jay) Pacelli Jr., Christopher Pacelli and his partner Angela Gomez, two grandsons Michael Pacelli (Erica), Joseph Pacelli (Erin), seven great grandchildren: Cole, Haven, Landon, Vada, Colton, Oliver and Isla; a brother, Haven W. Andrews Jr. (Paula); sister, Elizabeth A MacDonald (Craig); brother-in-law, Robert Richmond, numerous nieces/nephews, and great nieces/nephews.
The family would like to thank Atria Stamford’s Memory Care Unit and the aides from Sheraton Caregiver for their care and patience with Charlotte for the past five years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
