Carole Cullen Keating a resident of Darien, passed away on Sunday Jan. 7, after a brief illness. She was 84.

Carole Keating, 84, passed away on Jan. 7. Her funeral will be held on Jan. 19.
Born on April 12, 1939, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Col. William Joseph Cullen and Alice Cunningham Cullen. She grew up in Larchmont, New York.
Carole, also known as Schatzi, graduated from The Ursuline School in New Rochelle, New York and Rosemont College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Woodway Country Club and St. Thomas More Church in Darien.
Carole was predeceased by her husband, John Charles (Jack) Keating; her sister, Claire Cullen Earley; and son-in-law Russell Schuck.
She is survived by five children: Claire Keating Strupp (Joe) of Asbury Park, New Jersey, Jill Keating Brannigan (Peter) of Darien, John C. Keating Jr. (Amy) of Darien, Alison Keating Schuck of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina and William Cullen Keating (Sarah) of Mount Pleasant. She had a special and unique relationship with each of her fourteen cherished grandchildren who called her Schmoo; Cloey and Cole Strupp; Owen, Aidan, Patrick and Teddy Brannigan; Charlie and Tess Keating; Trevor, Caroline and Sydney Schuck; and McLean, Will and Annie Keating. She leaves behind beloved Earley, Carmody and Keating nieces and nephews.
Carole had a witty sense of humor with a positive and sweet demeanor and was a genuine, loyal friend. She was a lifelong book club member, loved flowers and plants and enjoyed any beach, especially the Woodway Beach Club.
Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday Jan. 19, 2024, at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Ave. A private burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
