Albert Bruggemeyer died on Dec. 2 at his home in Aston Gardens, Fl. He would have been 90 next month.
Albert Bruggemeyer, 89, passed away on Dec. 2. A date for his funeral has not been set.
He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Georgia Bruggemeyer.
Born in Chicago to Albert and Josephine Bruggemeyer, Al was the fourth of five children.
After serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, Al earned both a B.A. and M.B.A from the University of Chicago, graduating in 1952.
Al and Georgia, having married in 1950, then moved to New York as Al started work for Standard Oil (now Exxon Mobil). He worked and lived in South America including Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina, before finally returning to the U.S. permanently in 1970. Al retired from Exxon in 1979 as senior vice president and director of Exxon Company International.

Al and Georgia lived in Darien before moving to Marco Island, Fl. in 1979 and then to the Naples, Fl. area, where they lived in Wyndemere, Naples Bath and Tennis and Aston Gardens.
After retiring from Exxon, Al worked as a financial advisor and served on the Collier County School Board for six years. Al was president of the Marco Y.M.C.A. and served as a trustee for Youth Haven.
He was an active Rotarian, helped establish the Naples Philharmonic and served on the board of the Naples Players. Al and Georgia loved to travel. They visited all of Europe, most of the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, and South and Central America.
Al is survived by his four daughters: Janet (Andrew PhD) Wilson of Richmond, Virginia; Nancy (Peter) Gunder of Middleton, Wisconsin; Gail (Dr. Kevin) Collins of Naples; and Joanne Bruggemeyer of Naples; by his brother Roger and sister Loraine;and by eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Donald and sister Geraldine.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
