Results of Darien Teen Survey on Local Strengths and Risky Behaviors: Presentation on Tuesday, Oct 23

The Community Fund of Darien will announce on Tuesday the results from a survey of 1,800 Darien teenagers from the 7th through the 12th grade. They were asked about aspects of their lives that encouraged and discouraged risky behaviors like substance abuse. The survey results will be made available and discussed at a 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23 forum at Darien Library. Here’s the announcement from the Thriving Youth Task Force of the Community Fund of Darien:

On Friday, Sept. 21, over 150 people enjoyed the hospitality of the YMCA at the Annual Family Day Dinner. Sponsored by the Darien YMCA, the Community Fund of Darien’s Thriving Youth Task Force and the Darien Youth Commission, “Family Day: A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children” was launched in 2001 by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. Family Day is a national movement that reminds parents that the engagement fostered during frequent family dinners is an effective tool to help keep America’s kids substance free. Family meals are the perfect time to talk to your kids and to listen to what’s on their mind.

Reserve Seats Early for Darien’s Family Dinner Day on Sept 21

Come to the Darien YMCA on Friday, Sept. 21 for Darien’s annual “Family Dinner Day,” a free dinner for parents and their kids celebrating the simple things that keep families connected and strong. The evening event, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., includes dinner, swimming, open gym, arts & crafts, games, goodie bags and an evening of fun for the whole family. 

Space is limited so reservations are required. (See details below.)

While this event is open to all, the organizers are focusing on families with preschool through elementary school aged children. The event is sponsored by the Thriving Youth Task Force, the Darien YMCA, The Community Fund of Darien & the Darien Youth Commission.
