Police: Two Young Men Trespassing, One With Hallucinogenic Mushrooms

In an area where police previously received complaints of trespassing and vandalism, Darien police charged two brothers with trespassing, and one of them with possession of hallucinogenic mushrooms, police said. Editor’s note: This article has been updated at 5:05 p.m. with statements by one of the brothers and by removing some information not related to any charges.
Here’s how police described what happened, including accusations not proven in court (except where noted, all information is from police):
A police officer was “on patrol of a large piece of property” on the shoreline and off of Great Island Road on Saturday at about 4:23 p.m., according to a police announcement. The property has prominent signs, at every entrance and throughout the property, saying “Private Property, Trespassers Prosecuted According to Law.”
The officer saw two males on the property, so he approached them in his vehicle. Asked what they were doing, they told him they expected to use the dock on the property, where a friend would pick them up on his boat. The two identified themselves as Nicholas Allam, 23, of Old Dam Road in Fairfield and his brother, Christopher Allam, 26, of Manhattan.
