Police say: A 24-year-old Darien woman who was drinking was followed by an officer on patrol and pulled over after failing to stop for a stop sign; she passed field sobriety tests but was ticketed for having marijuana. Darien police described the incident in this account (with accusations not proven in court, although this kind of a case seldom gets that far):

The woman was driving a Jeep at a “high rate of speed” at about 1:49 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 27 on Old Kings Highway South when an officer in a patrol car spotted her vehicle. _________

Marijuana Found in Car with Three Occupants

Six bags containing marijuana and several marijuana cigarettes were found in a car stopped by a police officer who saw the light for the back license plate was not working, police said. Darien police described the incident with this account (containing accusations not proven in court):

At 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, an officer parked in the area of the Post Road and Fitch Avenue saw a 2001 silver Acura pass by without the light. The officer stopped the car on Park Place near Fitch Avenue and smelled marijuana as he spoke with the driver. The driver, a 19-year-old Norwalk man, said he didn’t know that he needed the license plate light to be working.

Two Traffic Stops: One with Pot, One with Pot & Heroin

In two unrelated, recent traffic stops, Darien police said, officers on patrol found drivers with marijuana, and in one of the cars, police also found a bit of heroin. Police gave these accounts (including accusations not proven in court):

Marijuana and heroin on Highfield Lane

Police received a report at about 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, of a small red car illegally parked on Highfield Lane and causing a traffic hazard. Police were told the car was occupied by a white male with blond hair. When driving to that street, a police officer saw a red Mazda Miata stopped on Leroy Avenue near McLaren Road.
