A 46-year-old man called Whole Foods Market in Darien a dozen times in one day asking to speak to his ex-girlfrend, an employee of the store, and became loud, rude and demanding when co-workers wouldn’t put him in touch with her, according to Darien police. The man tried so many times over a period of days to talk with her by phone that Darien police were called in and eventually arrested him, police said. Police described the situation with this account (including accusations not proven in court):

The ex-girlfriend of Floyd W. Gaines Jr. of Bridgeport said he would use profanity when talking to her and physically abused her. After she broke up with him, he would leave harassing calls and text messages with her. She was afraid of him, she told police.
