The online discussion takes place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 14. Doshi will discuss her stunning and unforgettable debut novel, Burnt Sugar, a love story and a story about betrayal, but not between lovers — between mother and daughter, which has been shortlisted for the 2020 Booker Prize for Fiction. In Burnt Sugar, Doshi tells the story of Tara, who, in her youth, was wild. She abandoned her marriage to join an ashram, and while Tara is busy as a partner to the ashram’s spiritual leader, little Antara, her daughter, is cared for by an older devotee, Kali Mata, an American who came to the ashram after a devastating loss.

Greenwich Library Challenges Darien for December ‘Book Bowl’ Fundraising Competition

Greenwich Library has challenged the Darien Library to their first-ever “Book Bowl”, a month-long contest starting Tuesday, Dec. 1, #GivingTuesday, and ending Dec. 31. The two towns will compete to raise the most funds for their libraries with “the competitive spirit of an exciting sports event to Darien and Greenwich,” according to a news release from Darien Library. “To go along with the competitive spirit of a bowl game, the losing Library will host a tail-gate party at the winning Library for staff and volunteers.” You can give online by visiting Darien Library’s website or (if you must) the website for Greenwich Library.
