After a picture was posted online by a Darien High School student showing the student with a gun — which turned out to be a BB gun — Principal Ellen Dunn assured parents on Wednesday that “no direct threats were made toward the school or any DHS student.” Dunn’s email, sent at 2:07 p.m., also said, “Our school student resource officer and the Darien Police Department were involved immediately and we are confident that they are handling this matter appropriately. ”

Here’s the full text of Dunn’s email to parents:

Dear Families,

Earlier today, it came to the High School Administration’s attention that a DHS student posted an image online, last evening, holding a weapon that has now been determined to be a BB gun. No direct threats were made toward the school or any DHS student. Our school student resource officer and the Darien Police Department were involved immediately and we are confident that they are handling this matter appropriately.
