A Darien woman was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol after she was seen drifting back and forth between lanes and then stopped for 10 seconds at a yellow flashing light on the Post Road, police said. Darien police gave this account of the incident (including accusations not proven in court):
Just before midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 6, a police officer saw a Jeep Wrangler being driven west on the Post Road just east of its intersection with Hecker Avenue. The vehicle drifted from the left lane to the right and back again. Then it stopped for the light at the corner of the Post Road and Hecker Avenue, although the light was flashing yellow — not steady red, steady yellow or flashing red. No one needs to stop for flashing yellow lights.
