A 27-year-old employee at Whole Foods Market attacked two people in the parking lot of the supermarket on Dec. 8 and was acting irrationally, said Darien police, who arrested him Tuesday on a warrant. In an announcement on Tuesday, police described what happened with this account, including accusations not proven in court:

Shortly before 2:45 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, Derrick Gonzalez approached another employee of the supermarket in the parking lot at 150 Ledge Road. The other employee, a 59-year-old Norwalk man, later told police that Gonzalez grabbed his jacket with one hand and his groin with the other, then forced him to the ground near a pile of rock salt. Gonzalez then repeatedly slammed the man’s head into the pile, the victim told police.
