A 40-year-old Weston woman was seen stealing items from CVS Pharmacy downtown, then was charged by police officers when they found her less than a block away, police said.

Darien police gave this account of what happened, including accusations not proved in court:

Police were called at 8:52 a.m., Friday, Feb. 25, from the pharmacy at 964 Post Road, and were given a description of the suspect.

When they questioned the woman, she told officers that the items in her bag were from another CVS, although she didn’t have a receipt — but she then admitted that she had stolen the items from the CVS nearby.

Police didn’t say what was stolen, but they charged her with sixth-degree larceny, a misdemeanor for thefts of less than $500. She was released on a promise to appear March 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
