Legendary University of Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun is coming to Barrett with his co-author Don Amore to meet fans and patrons and sign copies of More than a Game: How the UConn Basketball Dynasty Was Built On a Culture of Caring.
— an announcement from Barrett Bookstore
You can come to the store on Sunday, Nov. 16 to meet both the titan of Connecticut sports and a top sports journalist in the state.
Whether you’re a die-hard Husky, a longtime follower of Connecticut sports, or just looking for a compelling read about leadership, resilience, and building something meaningful, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
QUANTITIES ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED! Please be sure to arrive early and when we run out, we’re out! Thank you for your understanding.
If You’re Going …
This event takes place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 16 at Barrett Bookstore, 5 Corbin Drive, downtown Darien, a few storefronts in from the intersection of the Post Road and Corbin Drive.
The nearest parking lot is right behind the building, at the Center Street South parking lot (the lot behind Ten Twenty Post, the DCA Thrift Shop and CVS).
Again, arrive early if you want to get the book at the event (or buy a book beforehand at Barrett or some other store in the area — On Nov. 7, Amazon said only two were left in stock). A signed copy could be a valued Christmas gift for a fan.

About the Authors
Jim Calhoun is one of the most successful coaches in college basketball history. In more than 40 years in the game, including 26 at UConn, Calhoun won more than 900 games, including 629 at UConn, with national championships in 1999, 2004 and 2011.
He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, the sport’s highest honor, in 2005. Throughout his life and career, Calhoun has emphasized personal relationships and now, in his 80s, he remains in contact with hundreds of his former players, and to many of whom he remains a father figure.
Dom Amore, seven-time Connecticut sportswriter of the year, has been with the Hartford Courant since 1988, and has been its lead sports columnist since 2021. He won more than 30 state, regional and national journalism awards. This is his second book.
