Jazz for Justice concert

A coalition of community partners promoting peace and supporting immigrant families facing financial hardships due to recent Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agency escalations proudly presents a concert for justice featuring the Jim Clark Trio and Walter Custodio’s Band.

Jim Clark is a world-class saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist. Whether he is playing in the recording studio, performing in a small local venue or on the stage at Carnegie Hall, his goal is the same – play from the heart with the highest level of musical excellence. His trio consists of Jim on sax, Chris Coogan on keyboards and John Mobilio on bass.

Walter Custodio (percussion) has played with renowned artists in his native Peru and founded the tropical music band Caribe Son. He is recognized as an Ambassador of Peruvian music in the United States.

“This concert is a celebration of hope in a time of hardship,” said Unitarian Universalist Congregation Minister Rev. Terri Dennehy. “It is an opportunity to come together in the spirit of partnership as we enjoy lively music while also supporting immigrant families in need. It is a chance to come together as one community in joy and solidarity.”

Admission: Tickets are $50 for Special Friends and $35 General Admission.

Following the concert, guests are invited to a reception, where they can meet the musicians and coalition representatives in a casual, welcoming atmosphere.

The Ark of Noah Fund distributes funds directly to immigrant families facing financial hardship due to the detention of a household member by ICE. 100% of funds raised from residents of Fairfield County will be distributed to their neighbors in Fairfield County.

Co-sponsors are the Emerson Hall Foundation, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Comite por la Paz, GraceWorks, Stamford Norwalk United with Immigrants, the Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut, Indivisible Stamford, J&Rosa Construction, Envivo con Maricarmen, and La Voz Hispana. All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Ark of Noah Fund.

If You’re Going …

The concert starts at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025 in Emerson Hall at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20 Forest St., downtown Stamford.

Parking is available at the garage across Forest Street (enter next to CVS and go straight into the garage, or park in the lot to the right of the garage. Street parking may or may not be difficult to find.

Admission: Tickets are $50 for Special Friends and $35 General Admission. Anyone with a financial hardship wishing to attend may donate any amount. Tickets may be purchased in advance here. Those unable to attend the Jazz for Justice Concert, may donate directly to the Ark of Noah Fund.
