The 11th annual K-12 Art Show has been installed at Upper Crust Bakery and Café. The show will feature different mediums of art from students of all ages, and is an incredible display of young and aspiring talent.

An opening reception for the exhibit runs from 4 to 6 p.m., today, Thursday, Nov 6, at the cafe, located at 980 Post Road.

If you are unable to make the reception, the organizers encourage you to stop by, grab a coffee and bagel, and enjoy some creative work made by our K-12 students now through mid-January.

The artwork is in a variety of mediums and comes from each of the schools in the Darien district.

“This exhibition highlights the incredible imagination, skill, and personal voice our students bring to their work,” said Colleen Thompson, director of visual art and music for the school district.

Every year, the art department seeks out original art by students, and this year more than 100 pieces were selected from students across all seven of the town’s schools. Teachers selected works that demonstrated a high level of creativity and technical skill.

“Like many things in our schools, I was blown away by the caliber of the art produced by our students,” said schools Superintendent Eric Byrne. “Art gives students another powerful language to communicate with and empowers them to express complex ideas and emotions that words or numbers alone simply can’t capture.”
