Lester C. “Charlie” Bounty of Redding, Connecticut and Fairhaven, Massachusetts, beloved partner, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 6, 2024. He was 62.
Born in Stamford on Jan. 5, 1962, and brought up in Darien, Charlie was the son of the late Reginald and Madeline (Rembish) Bounty, brother of Elizabeth Bounty and Katherine (Daniel) Gouin, uncle of Tucker (Michaella) and Kelly Gouin, honorary uncle to Kevin Pierre-Louis, and partner to Debbie Rogers Truesdale.
Charlie first met his beautiful Debbie in high school, and it was preordained that they would find each other again later in life. Together Charlie and Deb enjoyed a love of seafood, OYSTERS, travel, the beach, and they enthusiastically followed and supported the local musicians of the Southeastern Massachusetts area.
Charlie began each morning bursting into song with his own made-up lyrics, just to start Deb’s day with a belly laugh and a smile to last until their next phone call. She brought tremendous joy, love and happiness to him. They loved each other exponentially! It’s hard to quantify how much she will miss him.
Charlie was well-known for his athletic abilities on the fields at Darien High School, Rutgers University and the University of Rhode Island. While his accomplishments in athletics were notable, he was most successful in the genuine and enduring friendships he developed through them.
Friendship was Charlie’s outstanding gift. He had an immense circle of friends and maintained a connection with so many dating back to elementary school. If one were to list the names of Charlie’s closest friends, it would be endless, but all his friends should know that every one of them was important to him.
Charlie was genuinely interested in each friend’s life and celebrated their accomplishments with everyone. He was the first to applaud a friend’s victory and to offer comfort and counsel in times of sorrow. He was loyal, compassionate and had such joy for life. He is the example of someone who lived each day to its fullest.
Liz, Kath, Dan, Tucker, Kelly, Kevin, Deb and many cherished friends will miss Charlie’s random text messages, his laugh, his endless questions, him falling asleep in the middle of a conversation, and his many entertaining stories. But most of all, they will miss his kindness, love, support and enveloping hugs.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will take place at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at the Noroton Heights Fire Station, 209 Noroton Ave. “Tailgate attire” requested.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Stamford PAL or Noroton Heights Fire Department.
