A 22-year-old man now hospitalized appears to have fallen from a platform on the northbound-travel side of Darien Railroad Station (the side nearest Dunkin Donuts) at about 12:30 a.m., Monday, Darien police said.

Police gave this further information about the incident:

Police were called by someone reporting an unresponsive man. Police officers and crew members from Darien EMS-Post 53 treated the man at the scene, and he was later taken to Stamford Hospital, where he remains.

The man was identified as a resident of Monroe. Police say he seems to have fallen from the train platform, landing on the exit drive where it meets the Post Road.

“At this time, it is believed that the male was alone, and we have no reason to believe this was anything other than an unfortunate accident,” said a police anouncement of the incident, released early Tuesday afternoon. “As this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.”
