Carnegie Prep’s practice SATs and ACTs are open to any student who wants to take a practice test in a simulated testing environment. For those who register, there’s a test scheduled from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Depot Youth Center.

— an announcement from the Depot, with additional information from the Carnegie Prep website.

  • Fun fact: When Andrew Carnegie spent a few summers in Darien about 120 years ago, he’d stop at the Noroton Heights station, get out of his private train car and get in a waiting horse and carriage. About where the Depot is now. (We have no idea whether or not Carnegie Prep has a connection to Andrew Carnegie, but that’s the Depot’s.)

The timed test administrations include all sections of the test (SAT: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math; ACT: English, Math, Reading, Science), plus the the optional essay. Students who do not wish to take the essay will be dismissed after the multiple-choice section.

Students should plan to arrive 15 minutes early with pencils, a calculator, and a cold drink.

Students and parents will be emailed a score report within two business days of the practice test.

Students may request a private tutor to go over their practice test results.

Since 1984, Carnegie Prep has offered academic support for students and families in
