In the wake of natural disasters, social justice organizations are often called upon, not only to rebuild, but also to fight the injustices that can result from environmental devastation.

In April 2015, an earthquake struck Nepal, killing thousands and destroying many more homes and businesses. The environmental damage caused by the earthquake resulted in increased crime, including human trafficking, and decreased health and living conditions.
