Sources of good news can be hard to find these days. So where can we turn for the news that doesn’t shy away from problems, but lifts our view to help us make permanent progress?

In a talk  titled, “BREAKING NEWS: FREEDOM IS OURS NOW”, Christian Science lecturer Patricia Woodard will offer a Biblically-based perspective of God that reveals the divine goodness, wellness and freedom flowing into our lives everyday, The inspirational talk, sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist, Darien, will be held  Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. at the Darien Library.

Her talk will explore the practicality of Christ Jesus’ life and works as explained in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, the textbook of Christian Science written by it’s founder, Mary Baker Eddy.

“The spiritual  discovery of this 19th-century woman—who found freedom from chronic illness and other struggles in her own life—shows the provable relevance of Jesus’ ministry in our lives today,.” Woodard said..” What she discovered through this study she called Christian Science—a view of God and the universe that transforms our thoughts, releasing us from fear and pain and causing us to soar.

Besides describing her own experience in learning to engage the unchanging laws of God in her own life, she will give examples of  how others have prayed to find God-derived freedom.from shattered relationships, addiction and illness “That’s the ultimate good news”, she says.

For many years, Woodard has been a Christian Science practitioner, praying with people for divine help and healing. A  member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship, she has lived in many parts of the US as well as Brazil. More recently, she has been active in prison ministry in Dallas, Texas, where she now resides.
